Mailboxes

Connect a personal Gmail mailbox

Authorise a personal Gmail account, and why a business mailbox is usually better.

A personal Gmail account will connect and send. It is the quickest way to start, and for many small businesses it is what is available on day one.

Consider a business mailbox instead

A personal @gmail.com address cannot have your own SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, tends to attract more spam filtering for commercial mail, has a lower sending limit, and looks less credible to a business recipient. If you can send from your own domain, do.

Connecting

  1. Go to Mailboxes and choose Connect mailbox.
  2. Select Gmail.
  3. Sign in to the Google account you want to send from.
  4. Review the permissions and choose Allow.
  5. Send a test email and verify it arrived.
  6. Assign the mailbox to the markets it should send for.

Limits on personal accounts

Google applies a much lower daily limit to consumer Gmail accounts than to Workspace accounts, and the exact figure is not published or guaranteed. Your plan allocation for a market served only by a personal account is reduced to match.

PlanBusiness mailbox on your domainPersonal Gmail or Outlook.com
Starter250 a day, per market250 a day, per market
Growth500 a day, per market350 a day, per market
Professional1,000 a day, per market450 a day, per market

Connect one business mailbox to a market and that market uses the full allocation. A personal account alongside it is still held to its own lower ceiling. If Google refuses a send even inside these figures, the platform stops and reports the rest as not sent. That is the correct behaviour: the alternative is getting your account restricted.

We will not work around a provider limit

Find New Customer does not rotate mailboxes, spread a campaign across aliases, or retry through a different account to get past a limit Google or Microsoft has applied. Those techniques are how sending accounts get suspended, and they are not something we will build.
